Program Details
Overview: The bill provides transitional and permanent eligibility protections for family caregivers after a veteran’s death. The family caregiver will continue to receive medical care and the monthly personal caregiver stipend for at least six months after the death of the participating veteran for whom they were caring. It also establishes permanent eligibility for the program for veterans with the highest need and their caregivers.
Permanent Eligibility
Veterans who have the most significant need for caregiver assistance are permanently eligible for the program.
Application Procedures
Both the eligible veteran and family member apply. The application will identify the needs for caregiver training.
