Services include providing information about available services; help with access to services; individual counseling; support groups; caregiver training; and respite care.

Services must be provided in an accessible format.

Entities eligible for grants include state or local government agencies; nonprofit organization; an area agency on aging; providers of multipurpose senior centers; institutions of higher education; and tribal organizations.

Family Caregiver

Eligible family caregivers include an adult family member (or another individual) who is an informal provider of in-home and community care to an older individual or to an individual of any age with Alzheimer’s disease or related disorders, or an older relative caregiver.

Older relative caregiver means a caregiver who is age 55 or older, lives with and is the informal and primary care provider of in-home and community care to a child or an individual with a disability. In the case of a caregiver of an individual with a disability, an older relative caregiver is a parent, grandparent, or other relative by blood, marriage, or adoption, of the individual with a disability.
