Overview: This bill creates a voluntary federal income tax write-off allowing taxpayers to contribute to a new “Alzheimer’s Research and Caregiving Trust Fund.” The Trust Fund supports caregiver services and biomedical research. Taxpayers may choose to contribute when filing their tax returns. Half of the funds will go to the Administration on Aging for education, counseling, respite, and support services under the Older Americans Act. The other half will go to the National Institute for Health (NIH) for Alzheimer’s disease treatment and cure research.
