Program Details

Overview: The bill modernizes and streamlines the application and appeals process for the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers.  The bill standardizes guidance and training for Veterans Health Administration staff reviewing appeals. 

Required Considerations

The Secretary may consider lessons learned from the implementation of the Veterans Benefit Management System to process claims. Using an integrated digital system to improve review of caregiver applications and appeals will be considered. The Secretary may consider best practices for the guidance and training of VA employees who oversee disability compensation.
