Program Details
Overview: The Bill requires the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to simplify administrative processes and forms so family caregivers can more easily help individuals enroll in and maintain Medicare, Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Social Security benefits. The bill also directs CMS to gather input from family caregivers; state, national, and Tribal organizations; and state Medicaid and CHIP programs and issue a report to Congress. CMS must issue a letter to each State Medicaid and CHIP Director to encourage them to adopt best practices for caregiver-friendly enrollment systems.
