Overview: The bill amends the Older Americans Act of 1965 to provide grants to eligible entities to train and support families and unpaid caregivers of people living with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. The HHS Secretary will conduct outreach in low-income, minority, and underserved communities to inform eligible entities about the grants.  

Eligible entities include public or nonprofit private home and community-based service (HCBS) providers. Entities may include: health care organizations; community health centers; senior centers; area agencies on aging; community-based organizations; organizations serving younger-onset Alzheimer’s and related patients; tribal organizations; and others.

Grant recipients must: provide culturally or linguistically appropriate services; spend at least 50% of grant funding on direct services to families and unpaid caregivers; and spend no more than 10% on administrative expenses.
